Hot and Sandy

Travel writing, pictures and stuff for people I know. Quite a lot of cycling talk, and some semi-controlled ranting. Hiking, outdoor and two-wheeled stuff, perhaps a little computing when it's worth talking about. Meandering thoughts.

Tough times

The blog stumbles on, with few significant updates. I am trying to work at home but it's not going well, because I can't seem to let go of the office work. Boo. Wondering whether to re-organise my PM-04 news section as a blog and work out how to embed the photo galleries in the CSS. I've just paid for the hosting & domain again, so I feel like I should try and keep the site current.... Probably less management overhead in the long run, too. This site and my Gallery install needs no admin at all, but it all looks fine and dandy. Foggy and drizzly day here, topped out at 4 deg C. Heating on :-)

Working from Home

..is tough, especially when it's over Christmas, during evenings, and at weekends. Boo.

The iLifestyle Phone

Well I can certainly vouch for the iPhone being an impressive gadget - the retina screen and slick interface are particularly notable. I'm using a slimline case and haven't had any issues with signal. The handset pairs seamlessly with my car and syncs phone book as well (which my BB never would). Although the ubiquity isn't desireable, more support for the phone means that loads of apps are improving all the time (for example being able to make Skype calls over 3G for international, and video calling). With light daytime use I'm getting 3-4 days battery life. One thing though - an app to automatically switch to Airplane mode between midnight and 6am would make a big difference to battery - this is an excellent standard feature on the BB.
